grumpy me
i just got off the phone with my mom and part of the conversation went something like this,
mom: did you eat? can you eat?
me: yes mom. i can eat now and i'm eating.
(we went over and over and over and over the same line ... just to achieve the level of assurance she required)
mom: are you sure you're okay? please call if you need help, ok?
me: yes mom. it's just that 2x. i'm okay.
note: given the recent episode, it's understandable why she is overly 'kancheong' (anxious).
what happened?

fella # 1 started it.
caught a virus and started vomiting. fever. chill.
he said,
"i vomited 3x and i'm almost well again the next day"
and he is proud of it o.O
despite warning him a 100x not to go so near his bro, he don't seems to be able to resist him and surely, his turn to start vomiting.
he vomited 5x and 2x diarrhea. fever. chill. and turned jello yesterday.
i left them with babysitter today. just called (again) and they sounds okay.

after cleaning up vomit for the eighth time, without a doubt, it's my turn. crap!
i vomited 2x last night. feeling much better today.
a little nauseous and lightheaded still... but i'm fine.
the hubby is exhausted but not infected. phew.
what's with the box? ah! it's our christmas tree storage box. last year, we wrapped up the box with leftover mahjong papers (we used to stick the paper on the wall for the kids to draw) and we scribbled, doodled and drew on it.. just for fun. actually we copied the drawings from Oistein Kristiansen. cool drawings! we forgotten about it until we retrieved the christmas tree recently. but yeah, it was ripped off within minutes... after hours and hours of drawing.
and yep, we finally put up our christamas tree :) where is the christmas tree? i like it with lights on and haven't got round of taking a pic at night.. later :)
since i'm homebound today.. so, i'm gonna be more long-winded and bore you with a long entry. maybe i can even get some advice from you. and since i'm gonna be long-winded, i shall put in more visual images to stop you from falling asleep.
as accurately predicted, my face start to sprout pimples when it hit the 3rd week. i was convinced then that my face will be covered with zits by christmas. surprisingly, (maybe
it's the high dosage of vit C, maybe it's AOX, maybe i prayed too hard :P), it just stopped popping and pretty much under control now. i still get one every week or so but it's tiny and manageable.
i bought this thinking Clinique should have better acne products since it's for younger skin but obviously, i didn't fall under that category :P :P, so, this is not working for me.
if you know of any good acne products, please share. thank you.
what a relief right? mmm.. however, what comes next is even worst.
my skin is so so so dry up till it hurts. it's always tight and pulling, patchy and scaling, prickly and itchy. it feels horrible to touch (even the bottom of my feet felt better prior to IRESSA). not only the face, the body too. and its bloody bloody sensitive, so sensitive that it stings when i put on moisturizer. if i don't put on lotion for a couple of hours, i will end up with semi-permanent goosebumps effect on my skin due to over-scratching. no, i'm not bullshitting.
however, i guess the extra work put in (as below) helps alittle. doesn't get rid of the problem but it's at least comforting and soothing... to the skin.
i changed all my body and face wash to soap free moisturizing base. i used tonnes of body lotion.
i carry Avene thermal spring water everywhere i go. it provides instant relief when my skin feels itchy. however, when the water dries up (which is very quickly), my skin feels dry and tight. so, i carry all my eyes and face cream + body lotion with me everywhere i go. i re-apply... as and when necessary.
you can even spot me putting on body lotion while driving .. as said, as and when necesary.. regardless of place and time.
i need to put on hydrating facial mask every alternate day (at least). a must. i think it makes the difference.
this provide great relief...
and quiet time-off too...
although the extra effort doesn't resolve the problem but at least it's not getting worst.
btw, if you have any great solution to dry skin issues. please please share. thank you.
that's not the end of the story. i'm discovering more and more side effects from Iressa. doc said not only the skin, the scalp will follow too. i have also changed all my shampoo and conditioner. although the scalp still look fine but my hair is dropping and dry and brittle.
and then, i was told the in-grown nail is also the side effects of Iressa. if it get worst i.e. swollen with pus and all, do come in for medical assistance. shall i start swearing? :P
and then, the diarrhea started more than a week ago. there is no stomach pain. i don't feel sick but i'm passing watery stools... initially 2-3 times a day and now getting worst to 4-5 a day. yeap, it's one of IRESSA side effect too. i seems to hit all the jackpot ha? :P anyway, i know i should go and see my onco right about now before i get dehydrated but i'm so reluctant to take anymore medication.
if you happens to know any awesome natural remedy for diarrhea, please share. thank you. *hugs*. yes, i'm desperate. i know, if that's what it takes to save me.. take it like a woman right? :P
besides physical setback, i'm affected emotionally too. hormones!
being diagnosed with cancer itself sets you through an emotional roller coaster ride, what's more with the infliction of pain and feeling unwellness at times.
being human, i need to deal with the emotional trauma too. at times when you look at me, it doesn't seems like i'm affected that much at all but i don't think you need much convincing that i'm not always upbeat or happy or positive, although most of the time i can be.
when i need time alone, i like to drive aimlessly.. at night.. tune in some musics.. just to sort out my thoughts.
however, knowing someone at home will be worrying and waiting for me, that time alone is rather restrictive.
and what annoys me, i like to cut my hair when i'm upset. a haircut change your outlook instantly and that can indirectly change the mood too.
however, i overdid it :P i cut my hair twice just this month and i really don't like the latest haircut. the hairstyle didn't suit me at all. just hope i can hang in long enough to grow out this hairstyle. *cross my fingers*
i think i grumble too much today and i better stop writing.
but before i pen off,
LOVE THIS RECIPE BOOK!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE AWESOME BLOGGERS!!! THANK YOU!
*love*hugs*kisses*
you see, i don't even know how to handle my hair now.. it looks funny let down..funnier still clip up..
ok. ok. i better stop grumbling :P
mom: did you eat? can you eat?

YEY i;m first to comment :)
oh viral huh ... glad u guys r better now. hmm remedy for diarrhea, my bb sitter used to give the kids plain watery porridge with a pinch of salt for 3 meals a day and she said that would clear it all.
matt is really tall now .. very much taller than the last time i saw him. :) you're looking good. :)
you look very pretty, lisa.
the one lying down, the hair is very nice. and never mind, it will grow fast. ;) maybe need a little gel to hold up. i don't use gel myself. don't like the feel, so i pin here and there and use hand band. just to keep the fringe from poking into my eyes. at least it's longer now. our length about the same, till you cut twice. i cut once, haha.
my skin is very sensitive too.
only can tahan sebamed.
also found sebamed body lotion good for skin. find the one which says 'good for complexion' at the bottom of the line. it is about the only thing i can tolerate.
at some stage i can only splash water because washing twice a day will get me in trouble too. too dry. yup.
love ya! xxx
when u let yr hair down, u look feminine and gentle...
when u clip it up, u look like an innocent adolescent..gosh... should i cut like yours too? LOL...
my girl's fingers have dried chapped skin, till now i dont know what she is allergy to, but this lotion from Redwin Sorbolene moisturiser seems to be helping slightly...
yes, sebamed is good too, PH5.5.. for sensitive skin...
my bro has just done his 6th chemo.. now he is feeling very lethargic and fatigue, it is eating him, he said... i m afraid he has negative tots now...
i feel helpless too...
Will continue to pray for strength and comfort for both of u...
Grumble and rant out all u want.. this is blogging...and we love u, grumpy or not...
no arr.. you look so pwetty..... like seriously! :) I have oily char kuey teow skin..sorry, cannot help. :D
lol at goolypop.
don't you believe her. she's got porcelain smooth skin. just like her butt's. opps..
i think there are those packets of 'balanced salts' that the pharmacy sells in little sachets. the doc would probably recommend. it replaces what you lose when you have diarrhea. don't think it's natural remedy but it's harmless remedy i think. something like what 100+ or (h2o?) does. it is important to replace body salts because of dehydration as you've mentioned. or else cramping fingers can start too.
sebamed can be bought at the pharmacies. it's common. but don't rub the skin. just a drop and mix with water and just splash for a start. see how the skin takes to it. as i said, i cannot wash twice a day too. that is how sensitive my skin is. thank goodness a doc friend recommended this when he saw my red blotchy face. that time i was just splashing with water because i couldn't use anything.
hope it helps you too.
er.. your stalker is here again. :P
sebamed is green words for seba
and red words for med.
because there are a few range.
there's one for face. which is green and blue. but i find the original green and red one works for me.
they have shampoo but i haven't tried. because i color my hair often, thought might not be suitable.
sorry i am clogging your space here.
just remembered.
a cheap alternative of a lotion is johnson's milk lotion. it works well too. surprisingly. ;)
Plz dont drive alone at night coz its not safe ! Try d Dr.G Revital Booster mask .. d complex Epidermal growth factor has excelent efficiency in skin restoration n rejuvenation.U can get it at Sasa only.
liquid face and body wash.
forgot to tell you. not the bar soap. for sebamed. ie.
i remembered they have a few range.
(just a suggestion. your other commenters may have better recommendations.) ;)
Please take good care of yourself, it is not always safe to drive alone, especially at night. We all care for you, and only want the best for you. Despite all the side effects from use of Iressa, you'll be fine. Set a date with onco and get his opinion. Meantime, hang in there. You are on your way to recovery. I love you.
Diarrhea, take in more good bacteria. Ask your doc for gain bac. Or eat more yogurt.
Try 1 Banana mashed into 1 cup of plain yogurt. Gulp it down. It helps with the diarrhea.
I love your haircut...! I did the same thing the other night... a little more here, a little more there... whoops... too much.
I went to the kickoff party for the book One Bite at a Time, very good. I have it too. At the kickoff they served goodies from the book itself. Yummy stuff.
I have found Aveeno body lotion to be very good for my dry skin... they have bath products for soaking in as well. It has colloidal oatmeal in it. Maybe Vitamin E oil. A good massage with a luscious body oil at least once a week... yummy. I must wonder if protein drinks would help your skin... I wish I could help lovely one.
Sending good thoughts your way... loving you.
Patty
sorry to hear that you were not well. lisa being lisa, you still know how to make fun of the situation. :) ...and like reanaclaire said, we still like you grumpy or not. we are only human, it's alright to be grumpy now and then.
as for your pimple issues, try tea tree oil? and since your skin is extra dry, why not go for literary oily products like baby oil if not olive oil. lotion, they have other added chemicals in there so go for natural stuff wld be better for your skin.
don't for get to ensure u drink up loads of liquid since yr also having diarrhea.
tk care lisa! and u look ok la with the new hairdo!
Here is a link to some lotion my doctor recommended for me. I will send it to you if you can't get it there. It has worked wonders for me.

You looking good Lisa! Keep up the spirit. Take care.
Love the tree storage box drawings. The cow, the ziraffe.. so colorful, so nice!!!!
Body = Kiehls Creme De Corps or Creme de Corps Light-Weight Body Lotion.
Guarantee to soften yr skin the next morning!!! I swear by it!
Yr pimples is probably due to dry skin and inflame follicles due to meds.
Wash = Cethaphil
Rgds, AC
Lisa, don't be too hard on yourself... you look great. What pimples? Your new hair cut makes you look like a sweet young thing. It must be the hormones. It's like having PMS. Women have PMS all the time anyway. I have it twice a month and my hub is used to it. He just gets out of the way :)
Luv, Dawn
Aiyo kesian you and the boys with the vomit and lou sai, but hey, it's a good way to detox??
You look exceptionally so so so good! A little pimples on your face make you look younger ma, still teen eh? haha..
I love your X'mas tree storage box le, nice drawing! You guys are so talented! Can I pass you the mahjong paper, then you guys draw for me? it looks so like professional drawing!
XOXO
hope everything is under controlled now...do you know what is "kai si guo" (fruit)? i don't know its name in English, it can be used to stop diarrhea.
take care Lisa.
u look good to me........
the hair is good too. "cute" n i can see radiant on yr face... :)
Like your hair down.. but clipping it up doesn't look to bad too, in fact it makes you look younger.
Stomach flu? Seems so many people are getting around KL. :(
Skin problem, I have a bio-active skincare to recommend, Ren Skincare (paraben free, peg-free, and natural). They just started to sell in KL (Tangs, Metro are carrying it). Hmm.. lets see if we can get a starter pack sent over to you just so you can find out if it's ok. Smells great, gentle on skin, and plant based.
I was recommended a serum meant for really dry skin, I didn't buy it because my skin is combination.
Cethaphil is really good for really dry skin, my girls used it once upon a time when they had skin prob.
And I so love your drawings on the wrapping paper. Gosh, you and hubs are talented, the drawings are so nice.
Glad you like the book.
Hi Lisa
Glad everything is ok by now!
Wishing you in advance : Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
how's the sensitive skin, sweetpea?
it's christmas in a few days! have you got all your presents wrapped up under the tree? it's very crowded in orchard road, i wouldn't dare go there these few days. luckily i don't need to get anything. actually i do, but i decided it has to wait, till after christmas as it's chaotic there, lol!
love you, sweetheart. xxx
just drop by to say Merry Christmas to you and your family ........... *.*
Oh.. but i think the let-down fringe looks really nice on you!
I read with amazement at how you handle and tackle each and every inconvenience in your stride - the acne, you seemed to have found a solution already, the dry skin too.. you should just continue doing what you are doing.
With regards to the diarrhea, toast usually helps. Plus adding lots of fibre into the diet. Bran perhaps?
I know what you mean about time alone being restrictive. I feel that way too, when I am out alone. Knowing and worrying about the people at home, and knowing that they too are thinking of me and my whereabouts. But if you need it, just go for it. Whatever it takes right?
Merry Christmas Lisa. May God's abundant blessings be upon you and yours.
hey lisa, been thinking of u. Just want to wish you and your family a very happy new year!
*slips in to leave some hugs and kisses for my precious babe*
love ya sweetheart. xxx
love you baby..get well soon today :)
