Snip IT!

the kiddies are due for a haircut...what's more with chinese new year just around the corner. we don't usually go to the saloon for the kiddies' hairdo, so, all this while daddy is the kiddies' personal hairdresser while mummy is allocated the less but nonetheless important 'side-kick' duty of washing and drying the kiddies' hair......and of course, i'm ever ready with my camera :P

cutting Matt's hair is as easy as 1,2,3...it's fun...it's relaxing...and he even pose for me to take a few good shots.

before we know it, the whole process was over...

when it comes to lil Brad....the mood has changed...it's all dramatic...sobs & scream...he is squirming, trying to pull free throughout...gosh...it's stressful!

time appears to have stop- a couple of minutes for a simple trim pass as if there were hours ago... at the end, we decided to just leave it...

the thing is, he was not like this for his 1st and 2nd haircuts...the photo below was taken 7 months ago when he is a year old during his 1st haircut.

though he may look a little grumpy but he was totally alright with the snipping...

i can't help but wonder what has trigger the change...is it temporary, he just don't feel like it that day? or worst, has he develop a fear of haircut for the many months or even years to come?

I think he cried this time becoz he starts to understand what is "fear" liao :)

3:56 PM

Champion was afraid at first, until his recent hair cut session, he suprised us. Read more

Champion was more afraid of the machine and the feeling of it mowing on their head! He will scream, cry, push, twist and turn.

On the other hand, lil President didn't give much fight on the first 3 session, except for the recent one... but little distraction helped.

Your hubby is a hairdresser? How come he has all the tools like a cape, the proper scissor, and the touch (the way he did the snipping)..

He's probably not in the mood.. Did you pry him from something he was doing? Was he due for a nap?

Sometimes they have this mood swing you just don't know what hit them.

We have so much to learn..

Btw, nice shots again.

ala... the two little kid really looked cute during hair cut. and brad is just like oscar during his first haircut at the saloon. that was 1.5 years ago. now oscar sit still during haircut and he sits alone on the high chair. tip: play hairdresser and customer game with him at home. then he will like it next time.

Great Pictures!!! Better than AhTak soon!

waiyahh...poor boy...maybe he needs some distraction or a toy with him :)

10:35 PM

My son is ok but my gals saw ppl close to them they run far far oledi, so till now i cut for them just in front of their hair. I let them keep long hair.

I was oso like the rest, wondering if ur hubby's a hairdresser. He's so well equipped.

I'm sure it'll save u a lot going to the barber and whenever ur kids need a haircut, daddy's around ever ready.

dear egghead,
maybe...i dunno' really.

dear geetha,
instead of distracting or consoling the lil fella, mummy still poked the camera at him-poor chap...

dear zara's mama,
we tried once, he freaked out and fell asleep soon after- we tot he is sleepy. tried it again the next day, still the same..prob the first incidence has unconsciously develop a fear or simply dislike of it.

dear zara's mama, mom2ashley & tracy,
my hubby acquired this hobby when we were studying abroad. cutting hair in London is so expensive, so, he start cutting hair for his friends.
if i'm not mistaken, the tools are a gift from someone that know him well *ahem*.

dear mylittlechampion,
that's a very good tip. i will play pretend with Brad and see how's the outcome in his haircut.

dear albie,
thanks. ah tak is an all rounder, he takes landscape, macro and portrait. my skill is pretty limited to my kids..maybe, it's time for me to venture out a bit.

dear jazzmint,
bad mummy, the only distraction i gave him is my camera :-X

dear 1+2 mom,
the girls are so beautiful..must be a real attraction when you take them out.

9:22 AM

Mum is the personal hairdresser for Damien, he's basically quite ok when we cut his hair. But then again, i don't know how he'll react should we bring him to the real barber...

9:23 AM

wow, see, we have a mummy hairdresser too :)

10:29 AM

I like the idea of play-play hairdresser. Should ease some of the stress.

1:51 PM

yes, go for something AhTak doesn't do though.. like ....hmm... like ...man, he does everything... wait, no bedroom shots from AhTak yet, discounting his Turtles photos...

8:41 PM

ur shots of ur lil boys having their hair cuts are classic..especially the crying one..
my lil max had a bit of a fright when he was first brought to the barber and just shriek and shriek...
he's over now so i guess they kinda get used to it or outgrow the shrieking after some time.

dear lian,
i'm thinking of using the play pretend technique too..see how it will turn out in his next haircut

dear albie,
don't put ideas in my mind........damn, i can't get it off my mind now!

dear pearlvanoyster,
oohh..good to hear that max got over it, there is a chance for Brad then.

12:40 AM

I have yet to bring bb for a hair cut, usually mil brings him. He refused and cry out loud during the first few time, but eventually got used to it.

I cut his hair at home sometimes using a chinese comb that comes with embedded knife. Very easy to use.
"zeeek, zeeek, zeeek" and it's done. He seems okay with it. :P
