his MILKY way
Brad's milky milestones or something like that...
the bottle
i found out he can drink perfectly well from a milk bottle. there was this one time, he finished off 4oz of milk from a bottle and i was all smiley face thinking "hey, finally"...or so i thought.
the fact is 'can do' not necessary mean 'will do'. he can drink from a bottle if he wants to but most of the time, he will just chew on the teats. if i'm lucky, he will drink up to 2oz of milk from a bottle but ......in 20-30 minutes duration.
the cup
i must say he is skillful drinking from a cup. he drink his water, juices and even soup from a cup. all on his own. without assistance. no more spillage.
occasionally, he will drink his MILK from a cup but....more often than not, he will resent it. strange as it may sound, he shows resistance only for his milk.
anyhow, i have do away with spoonfeeding. if he refuse to drink milk on his own, i will normally just feed him directly from the cup.
breastfeeding
yes, i'm still breastfeeding him...only per demand...he will usually demand for it...
after long hours of separation from me...as when i pick him up after work
when he wants my total attention...esp. when he try to vie it away from his big bro
before he sleeps...his habitual lullaby
when he wants me to cuddle and hold him close...playing incy wincy spider crawling up his body etc. etc.
the frequency is decreasing and i believe it's more for comfort that needs.
taken when Brad was one year old
we started training him to feed himself solid food before he is even one year old and by one, he can comfortably hold a spoon to feed himself (although mummy will interfere and help whenever necessary).
as of today, both Matt and Brad sits and eats together with daddy and mummy during dinner time (only weekend). it's not always plain sailing but i would say the hiccups are minor in comparison to the hurdle of getting him to drink his milk on his own.
*sigh* but i will keep trying...

wow he still bf, so good :) My son he dunwan drink his milk with cup but he can drink other then milk with cup..weird. I asked him so many time he said : cannot, i can not drink nen ne with cup..it not same. I want dink nen nen with bottle.

Wow, 20-30 mins to finish 2 oz? He sure knows how to enjoy himself.
When Des was still using her bottle, it took her about 1-2 mins to finish 71/2 oz. Same with using her sippy cup now. But when it comes to taking her rice, will take her 1/2 - 3/4 hr. ... sigh ...
It's an achievement still..
He's such a strong willed child, don't want means don't want (drink milk from bottle or cup).. want means want (breastfeeding).
Hmm.. wonder when you'll stop huh?? I wonder when I'll stop.. am still feeding her although reduce to fist thing in the morning and last thing in the night. :P
Good for you.. I'm still having a battle at the dining table (although sometimes they are angels) :)
Hmm...so well behave eh? Bb hardly join us for meal except weekend. I guess this is one of the disadvantages of having a maid.

ooohhh, you make me feel so relief. i thought i must have done something wrong or not doing the right thing that led Bard refusal to drink milk on his own but it seems like kids do have strong preference over how they drink their milk-huh?

his old trick- whenever he see his koko sitting on my lap, he will pull, kick him away and pretend he wants to drink nen-nen.
the initial stage of training him is a mess...he walk and drink and spill liquid all over the place.

that's the challenge...how can he drink 2oz ONLY in 20-30 mins...compare to Destinee 1-2 mins for 71/2 oz. sometime i feel like giving up but then again, i worried about his calcium intake, that's why i endure and keep trying.

i have this feeling it might still drag on for a while....maybe until my milk supply completely drain off.
since litttle zara drinking formula from a bottle is a success- you can just lay back and enjoy bf her as long as you can without the worry that she is not getting enough milk, calcium etc.

sometime i do feel that i'm crazy not to have a maid but on the other hand, i enjoy every minute spent with them including all the baths, meals, sleep battles.
